Kinesio taping in Woodbridge.

A flexible, elastic tape applied to support the muscles and joints you rely on most, so you can keep moving while you heal.

Muscle & joint support Keeps you moving, not sidelined Talk to a Specialist

What It Is

Elastic support that moves with you.

You don’t want to sit out, and you don’t want to baby a muscle that’s still catching up either. Kinesio tape is built for exactly that middle ground: support that moves with you instead of holding you back.

It’s a thin, stretchy tape that moves the way skin and muscle do. Unlike rigid athletic tape, it never locks a joint in place. It lifts the skin slightly, easing pressure on the tissue underneath while supporting the muscle through its full range.

You’re not the type to sit still until something’s “fully healed.” Your physical therapist applies it in specific patterns built for what you need, worn for days between visits, so you can keep moving while the rest of your plan does its work.

Questions, Answered

Kinesio taping, no mystery.

It shouldn’t. The adhesive is designed to move with your skin, and removing it slowly, ideally after a warm shower, keeps it comfortable. If you have sensitive skin, let your physical therapist know beforehand so we can adjust how and where it’s applied.

No. Rigid athletic tape locks a joint in place. Kinesio tape is thin and elastic, so it supports the muscle while letting you move through your full range. Most applications last three to five days, even through showers and light activity, since it’s water-resistant.

Usually it’s included as part of your physical therapy visit rather than billed as a separate service, so it rarely adds to your cost. We verify your specific benefits before your first visit so there are no surprises. Questions? Call us at (703) 763-3922.
